Repentance
is part of
God’s plan for saving man. A reading of Luke 13:3
reveals,
“…Unless you repent you will all likewise
perish.”
(Luke 13:3). Repentance is a change of mind along with a
change
of action.
A great example of repentance can be found in Matthew 21:28-29,
“But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to
the
first and said, 'Son, go, work today in my vineyard.' He answered and
said, 'I will not,' but afterward he regretted it and
went.” This son had a change of mind along with a
change of
action. This son refused to obey his father “but
afterward
regretted it and went.” He
repented!
A reading of Acts 17:30 reveals, “Truly, these times of
ignorance
God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to
repent.” Repentance is necessary for salvation, as
God has
commanded “all men everywhere to repent.”
In response to the preaching heard by the Jews on the day of Pentecost
in Acts 2 they asked, “Men and brethren, what shall we
do?” Then Peter said to them, “Repent,
and let every
one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of
sins…” (Acts 2:37-38).
Have you changed
your mind and your
actions?
