What
Must I do To Be Saved?
|
The Philippian
jailor asked Paul and Silas, “Sirs, what must I do to be
saved?” (Acts 16:30). This is the greatest question
a man
or woman could ask. To be saved, the Bible requires man to:
Hear The Gospel.
Every case of conversion in the book of Acts began with folks hearing
the Gospel message. God said, “This is My beloved
Son, in
whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!” (Matt. 17:5).
Believe In God.
A reading of Hebrews 11:6 reveals, “But without faith it is
impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He
is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek
Him.” Jesus declared, “…that
you will die in
your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your
sins” (John 8:24).
Repent of Sins.
Repentance involves a change of mind along with a change of
action. Read Matthew 21:28-31 for a good example of someone
repenting. Jesus taught, “unless you repent you
will all
likewise perish” (Lk. 13:3).
Confess Christ.
The non-Christian is to confess his faith in Christ that He is the Son
of God. The Eunuch confessed, “I believe that Jesus
Christ
is the Son of God” (Acts 8:37). Paul wrote,
“with the
mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Rom. 10:10).
Be Baptized.
Every case of conversion in the book of Acts began with hearing the
gospel and ended with the folks being baptized. A reading of
Mark
16:16 reveals, “He who believes and is baptized will be
saved…” Peter commanded the Jews on the
day of
Pentecost in Acts 2:38, “Repent, and let every one of you be
baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of
sins…”
Live Faithful.
Being faithful is a requirement of salvation. Christians are
to
“…Be faithful until death” and in so
doing will be
given “the crown of life” (Rev. 2:10).
Christians
must live soberly, righteously and godly” (Tit.
2:10).
These are the terms of salvation
commanded by God
for folks to be saved. Many things are being taught today
about
how to be saved. Our appeal is to the word of the Lord and
that
word requires men to heed the above steps to be saved. Have
you
obeyed the Gospel plan of salvation? Come and obey today!
